I recently got to go see the new Pixar movie,
Up. I really hadn't heard anything about it, but figured it would be good because it was a Pixar. And I was not disappointed in the least.
Up is a cute little story about an old man, Mr. Carl Fredricksen, who is on a mission to complete an age old promise to his late wife, Ellie. It had always been her dream to build a house on the top of Paradise Falls in South America. In an innovative manner, he sets out to do just that.
Unbeknown to Carl, a young "Wilderness Explorer" (a.k.a. Boy Scout) has accidentally stowed away in an effort to earn his final badge for assisting the elderly. They are joined on the journey to Paradise Falls by the lovable (although somewhat clueless) dog, Dug, and a rare South American bird named Kevin.
Pitted against a senile old explorer and his droves of vicious dogs, they strive to complete the goals of Settling Carl's house, and returning Kevin to her nest.
During the course of this film, Pixar yet again set the precedent for quality family films, with no bad language, crude humor, bad attitudes, or violence. I'm glad that they are able to show Hollywood that wholesome films can still be made and are very popular. The animation was high quality, the storyline original, and the expression and emotion of the characters was phenomenal. At one point, as Carl is reminiscing while looking at photos of Ellie, I couldn't help but cry a little. It was so touching.
If you would like to have an evening with some lighthearted, good entertainment, go see

World Magazine gave it a good review, and talked about Pixar in general. Many movies end when the Prince rides off with his Princess, but this movie shows the beauty of lifelong married love.
We just read a World article on it this morning.
Thanks for the review, bud, we'll have to watch for it's appearance in our 50 cent theater
Hooray for a date night!
Timothy David Stacie and I went to see it, even Stacie said it ok.
